Dear Families, Students and Old Scholars
Thank you to the staff and particularly to the student helpers at our recent Year 6 Open Evening, when we welcomed students from our partner primary schools and their families to look around the facilities in our school and to meet the staff. Year 12 students acted as tour guides for the evening and did this with distinction! The school looked magnificent and feedback from students and their families was very positive. We look forward to welcoming what looks like a large group of students to join Year 7 at RGS in September 2020.
Congratulations to our first group of sixth form students to complete the London Institute of Banking and Finance course which resulted in them being awarded an AS qualification. The students attended an award ceremony on Friday, where they received their certificates from the Chief Minister.Congratulations to all students and to the staff who prepared them so well for this new and exciting qualification.
Students and families will be aware of continuing industrial action by teachers in phase one of action short of strike action. I will make sure to update everyone of any further developments but, in the meantime parents and carers are directed to our website/blog, where copies of the latest letters and information are held. This also applies to information relating to the Coronavirus outbreak. Please follow the links on our website for the latest information.
Our KS5 Options Evening will be taking place on Thursday, when we will be welcoming our prospective Year 12 students and their families to talks in the sixth form centre. There will also be the opportunity to find out more about the KS5 courses by visiting subject stalls in the West hall. We look forward to seeing you there and also we hope, at our Live Screening tomorrow of Riverdance, one of the exciting new additions to our live screening programme for this year. Tickets are still available but are selling fast – follow the link to book https://rgstheatre.ticketsolve.com/shows
