RGS Mail Update
Dear Parents/Carers and Students,
I am delighted to be able to welcome you all back to the new academic year at Ramsey Grammar School and remind you that school starts again for all students (separate arrangements for the Sixth Form) on Wednesday 9th September. After the year we have had it is great to be able to look forward more positively to the year ahead in the certain knowledge that we have all learned lessons from our many and varied and definitely challenging experiences this year.
Thank goodness that justice was done to the efforts of our students in Year 11 and Year 13 through the awarding of the Current Assessment Grades for GCSE and A Levels! In the circumstances this was the only right thing to do. Please rest assured that I would still now have been campaigning for this outcome if the powers that be had not yet seen sense! Thank you for the many expressions of encouragement and support for our stance on this, which resulted in the very best that any of us could hope for in the circumstances.
We will be celebrating the achievements of Year 11 and Year 13 students along with all others at our forthcoming Prizegiving event on Thursday 15th October. This will be my final appearance as Headteacher at this event, since I have given notice to the Department of Education, Sport and Culture of my intention to retire at the end of this term. I take this opportunity to extend my best wishes to future candidates for this fantastic job, which has been the highlight of my 37 year career.
This will be a busy term with all that is going on as usual. Please keep an eye on the website for the very latest information about events and issues concerning life at school. Please also take a few minutes to look at our programme for live screening, published in this edition of RGS Mail. It is wonderful to be able to stage these events in our Northern Theatre Experience setting at a time when many people are still not able, due to Covid-19 restrictions, to attend events in their jurisdiction. So please make the most of the wonderful opportunity to see live and encore events from UK theatres. Our season kicks off on Thursday 10th September with a special encore screening of Kinky Boots, one of our most successful shows of last year.
