Dear Families, Students and Old Scholars

Welcome Back!

Yet again I am delighted to report excellent exam results for our Year 11 and Year 13 students. The excellent set of GCSE results means that we have a large proportion of Year 11 students eligible to join our Sixth Form and we look forward to welcoming them back to school this week. All our Year 13 students secured their chosen routes for progression after school, with many of them about to embark on a degree course at university.Wherever they have chosen to go and whatever they have chosen to do, we wish them every success and remind them to keep in touch with us here at Ramsey Grammar School.

At the start of this academic year we will be delivering on our promise to stop the sale of plastic bottled water in school and students and staff members will be issued with a refillable water flask provided by Conister Bank.Water fountains have been provided by the Government and installed in both buildings allowing students to refill their water flasks at lunchtime and during breaks. We are delighted to make this important step towards improving the environment, not just of the school but of the wider world, and are committed to continue to look for ways in which to make the world a better, safer place.

Our examination results are testament to the hard work of students and staff alike, but I wish to draw your attention once again to the importance of good attendance in student attainment and achievement. The top ten performers at GCSE this year had an average annual attendance in Year 11 of 98%.This tells its own story. Please be reminded that from this September all requests for holidays in term time will be recorded as unauthorised absence. You may of course apply for leave of absence for your child to attend extra-curricular events and competitions as well as family commitments which will as ever be recorded as authorised absence. Please apply in writing to me in all of these cases following the usual procedures.

In this edition of RGS Mail you will find our new programme for the 2019/20 Northern Theatre Experience at RGS.You will see that we have an exciting and varied programme for this year which kicks off on Thursday 12th September with the highly acclaimed stage production of ‘Fleabag’.Please remember to book directly via the link to Live Screening on the school website.
