IMPORTANT ONLINE SAFETY MESSAGE - PARENTS, SCREENSHOT THIS!
We want to let you know about a current online trend that’s putting young people at risk, so you can spot it early and protect yourself and your friends.
What’s happening?
Some TikTok accounts are asking young people to follow them in return for a “shout-out.”
After that, they may ask you to send photos or videos of yourself in inappropriate poses, calling it a “challenge.”
We’ve also seen similar requests linked to Robux (Roblox currency) where people promise in-game rewards in exchange for images or videos.
This is not a game or a joke
This is a form of online exploitation.
If someone:
• Asks for pictures or videos that make you uncomfortable • Pressures you to do something quickly • Offers rewards, shout-outs, or in-game currency • Tells you to keep it secret
That’s a red flag
What to do if this happens to you (or a friend):
Don’t send anything
Screenshot messages if you can
Block and report the account
Tell a trusted adult, a parent, carer, teacher, or another adult you trust.
Telling someone is not getting yourself in trouble. It’s the right thing to do, and it helps keep others safe too.
We’re proud of you
We’re seeing lots of young people already making the right choices and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right … that’s exactly what we want to see. Well done
