Computing at RGS currently consists of 1 lesson per week in Y7 & Y9. In Y8 Computing sits within the technology rotation where students have a double lesson for 10 weeks of the school year.
The Year 9 curriculum is designed to prepare students for GCSE subjects offered by department. This included iGCSE Computer Science and BTEC Information and Creative Technology. The curriculum aims to provide a variety of topics for both ICT and Computer science.
What is the difference between ICT & Computer Science?
ICT is all about the use of computers and technology to help us. This involves using a variety of different software, including graphics design, spreadsheets and word processing.
Computer Science is more about how the computers are built and programmed. This tends to be a more mathematical subject with difficult concepts.
